Specific Nursing Procedures

Specific Nursing Procedures away from hospitals and doctors consultation rooms has been identified as a definite need in the primary care market.

UH is offering this service to client’s at their homes, or at specific facilities managed or organised by UH. Basic examples of services like these are: wound care, catheterisation, phlebotomy services, medical screening &evaluation, as well as education on specific health issues.

UH has also developed relationships with specific medical practitioners, to offer specialised procedures, for example administration of treatment for bladder cancer (BCG’s) and educating clients on self catheterisation.

Laboratory Services

UH has a very good relationship with various pathology service providers in South Africa.

For this reason UH has built a database of capable phlebotomists, which then will be placed at various depots on request of the management of the pathology service – where there is a shortage of permanent employed phlebotomists at those specific depots.

Capability and skills of these nurses are managed by offering an induction programme to nurses who register at UH, where the skill of the nurse will be signed off by the Quality and Compliance officer of UH…….Read More

Nursing Home Care

Primary Care

The primary care division of UH, offers services to individuals in need of care. UH identified that individuals require care away from hospitals – for example in the safe environment of their own homes, especially if the individuals’ mobility is impaired. The two focus areas in this division are Home Health Care and Specific Nursing Procedures.

Home Healthcare

UH offer quality home health care services at the client’s home or chosen facility. This includes short and long term patient care. At registration for the services an evaluation of the client’s condition and requirements are made by a registered nurse. The applicable nurse is then placed according to the client’s need. This service is typically offered to those clients who are in need of nursing assistance at home after for example surgery, or a client who is too weak and needs assistance with basic care around hygiene, nutrition and mobility….. Management of Health Care Facilities are done in accordance with the employment act no 75 of 1997.
